ABOUT THE LIBRARY

In 1938, the Platte Women’s Club founded the public library.  The library moved to a new facility in 2002 and houses more than 15,000 books.  Books on CD are available, as well as Overdrive Program (for your e-readers) & the Talking Books Program available through the State Library. Open Monday – Friday, library patrons are welcome to spend an afternoon in one of the reading corners or use one of the computers available to the public.

The library is happy to offer a weekly story hour on Fridays for pre-schoolers and an annual summer reading program for kindergarten through sixth-grade students. Adults can also take advantage of the library book club, which meets every six weeks to discuss selected works.

Our mission statement:  The Platte Public Library strives to provide timely access to materials and services helping city and area residents of all ages obtain information to meet personal, professional, and educational needs. You will need Internet access and a compatible device, such as a computer, eReader, tablet or smartphone, to utilize the loaned materials. Our library patrons have discovered that using the eReader program grants them access to thousands of titles not offered in the Platte Public Library, as well as accessibility to titles when traveling.
